Ingredients
130ml warm milk
4g dry yeast
50g sugar
1 egg
300g all-purpose flour (type 00)
10g powdered milk (optional)
40g butter
3g salt
Directions
- In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, dry yeast, and sugar. Stir well and let the mixture sit for 5-10 minutes until the yeast activates and becomes foamy.
- Add the egg to the yeast mixture and whisk until well combined.
- Gradually sift in the flour and powdered milk (if using), mixing the dough by hand or using a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment.
- Once the dough starts to come together, add the softened butter and salt. Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough with a clean cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Divide the dough into small portions and shape each into a ball. Place the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Cover the rolls and let them rise again for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Once the rolls have risen, bake them for 15-20 minutes, or until they’re golden brown.
- Let the rolls cool slightly before serving.
